Become familiar with the law in Pennsylvania

- File an affidavit and objectives at the school district office
- Keep a record of work completed (this is called a portfolio)
- This can include papers, pictures, videos, and projects
- Keep a list of books used (this is called a log)
- Keep a count of the number of days
Choose a curriculum
- How does your child learn? Auditory, Kinesthetic, Visual?
- How do you prefer to teach?
- Research curriculum – this is where knowing other homeschool families or having an online community is rather helpful.
Decide when and where you will homeschool
- Will you use a particular room in the house or spread out everywhere?
- Will you work in the morning? Afternoon? Night?
- Do what works for your family.
Enjoy the freedom to learn!
- Evaluate how things are going. Make changes as needed.
- Notice the student’s accomplishments
- Celebrate the learning that is happening, big or small!
