Pennsylvania House
- The House is presently in session.
- Eighteen bills were referred to the House Education Committee. None of these bills address homeschooling issues.
- Five bills were passed by the Education committee and referred on to the entire House. None impact on homeschool issues.
Pennsylvania Senate
- The Senate is currently in session.
- Four bills were referred to the Senate Education Committee. None of these address homeschooling issues.
- Three bills were passed by the Education committee and referred on to the entire Senate. None impact on homeschool issues.
Issues of Interest
- Early Voting is underway. Election Day is November 5, 2024.
- We are currently reviewing US Congressman Peter Murphy’s bill HR 9462, “The Educational Choice Act for Children.”
- A number of school districts have been challenging Pennsylvania homeschoolers who make use of the Uniform Unsworn Declaration for homeschooling documents. CHAP is consulting with Will Estrada of HSLDA on these concerns. So far, the school districts have been backing down after receiving a letter from HSLDA explaining the law surrounding their usage.
- None of the Presidential or Vice-Presidential debates received a single question in regards to education, school choice or homeschooling.
