CHAP Foundation Grant Recipient Jessica McManus

I am truly appreciative of the financial assistance provided by the CHAP Foundation Grant. My
daughter and I greatly value education, and we treasure homeschooling so much. We have
been through many hardships in the past three years. My husband left us penniless, homeless,
and careless: it was quite scary at times. Not long after, there was a fire where we were renting
rooms. We cried many tears, but through Scripture and prayer, the Lord used this tribulation to
grow our faith and increase our love and wisdom.

We homeschool to focus on learning and to serve our community. Jessica works for CEF, (Child
Evangelism Fellowship), babysits, and is an assistant leader for a young ladies Bible study. In all
of these pursuits, her goal is to grow in knowledge and to deepen her relationship with Jesus.
We have really come to cherish 2 Corinthians 1: 2-3. We would paraphrase it this way: “May
the God of all comfort comfort us so we can comfort others.”

Our desire is to now help others where we can through their trials and heartbreaking
situations. Even to hold hands, pray, or have a cup of coffee and sit quietly.
When we see others going through trials and heartbreaking trials, our desire is to help them
however we can: by holding their hands, praying with them, or lending a listening ear over
coffee.

We are so grateful that you listened, understood, and prayed over us and were able to help us.

Agape (Love),
Dale and Jessica McManus
